@Mamapolo2016 Um the same reason why people living down in Cape Cod MA think the White Mountains in NH (a MA border state) IS very far away from where they live....because it's a 5 hour drive to the White Mountains(ski country in NH) which is not even the northern most part of NH as a MA border state.

@SW-User Where one grows up the USA is indicative as to how we will talk/our accents...thus why there are so many different accents in the USA.
When my son was 12 yrs old playing baseball out of state against teams from all 50 states, he and his teammates from up North were roomed with a team from Texas....where the baseball team from Texas (having thick southern accents/drawls) thought their roommates from Massachusetts had a WEIRD accent, as did our boys from MA think their Texas roommates had a WEIRD accent lol :)
