Why do cats seem smarter than dogs even though they're not?

We usually think the same of people who are reserved and mysterious to us. We believe they are thinking, while they may just not be able to find something to say.

Dogs are open and friendly and wear their hearts on their paw. Cats look at you like “oh, if I could talk...you would be ruined.”

And, many of us believe that if you love me, you must be stupid.

@Mamapolo2016 that last statement is new to me. Thanks for the thought

This makes cats much smarter than dogs.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@NativeOregonian Do you think that's good? Or was it better before?
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@dreamsicle Yep, Prop215 patients have been able to homegrow since the State Constitutional law went into effect in 1997.

@Dan193 Legalizing recreational in every state that was just medical before they did has thrown MMJ patients under the bus every time, California is no exception.

Dogs and cats are equally smart, cats just don't feel the need to perform on command.
@Dan193 exactly. They were kept around for a long time, since they were useful, but not domesticated

@Dan193 Cats actually weren't domesticated, as dogs were. They came because there were mice (food) around the grains. They slowly became accustomed to us and realized we could scratch behind their ears.

@Dan193 Quite recently as opposed to dogs.

I think it's because they usually care less, are withdrawn more, less animated.

You have never seen a dog I have trained
I have trained cats to come on demand
But never have I trained one to not eat until I tell it that it can
or to protect my property
only barking when they perceive a threat (not at every stranger that passes my property )
Cats are smart as far as having most humans wrapped
But if they were as smart as dogs they would avoid my dog
Once in a while she can't help herself ,,she will break one just to show she can
SW-User
because they don't eat shit
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User 🤣
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@SW-User oh but yes they will
I had one cat I couldn't break of it

Cats are cunning and natural assholes.

They keep for themselves

Interesting and reliable article on cats and how long they have been domesticated. Up to 12,000 years. And some recent archeology findings. Also gives a few reasons why they are the way they are.
