Do you find making eye contact with people that you walk past/who are walking past you is awkward?

It is to me.
Or maybe it's just the people and the rude looks most give.

Not with most people, just a few people. If someone has been rude to me in the past, I try to avoid eye contact with them, or if a guy seems to be coming on to me, or being inappropriate in some way. Also, I try to avoid eye contact with panhandlers, though usually when I find out what they want it's too late, we've already made eye contact. And then I feel rude and uncomfortable when I ignore them and walk away.

But for the most part no, I just smile and nod.

@TeresaRudolph71 I don't walk anywhere, i see pandlers at red lights. They point at their sign, I wave and roll up window lol

@iamnikki Ah, yes, that's just one more motivation for me to get my license. Of course, parking isn't very good downtown where I live. But it would still be worth it, if only for that reason.

I don’t find it awkward, I usually smile or say “Hi”

We introverts aren't big on eye contact, it can be a signal to talk and talking is draining.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@curiosi Well, For me, it's fine if I am talking to you, or if you are the one talking to me. Totally fine with making eye contact with cashiers, service people, etc but it's the folks in passing that I can't stand eye contact with...
I have no problem with making eye contact with anyone.

Not really. Usually we just smile politely.
Nah I think I look away, unless they are eyeballing me then I eyeball right back to assert dominance. If they smile at me I try to smile back but if I ever catch my reflection that is not what it looks like lol

@MushroomFaerie SAME. Like if I think I'm smiling, and I look in the mirror, holding that same face, it looks like😐️ LOL
@iamnikki exactly! Lol

You probably wouldn’t like walking past me then, because I’m an eye contact, say a friendly “hi” kind of guy.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SW-User I don't have a problem with folks looking at me. I have a problem tring to make eye contact with others as they are passing.
