What does it mean when someone gets angry to the point they lose control and then don't remember what they did?

When I was in high school and taking Foods, we were supposed to make bacon and eggs. I didn't pay enough attention to my combo and burned my egg. I was going to have to eat it, so I sat down at our table. This girl who I had had trouble with before kept saying from her table, "Old Mother Hubbard and the burned egg." I just ignored her. Had I done what I wanted to do, I would have gotten up and punched her - but I had a good reputation with the teachers, so I didn't risk detention. She knew it, too, because I BIT her when she kept knocking my books out of my hands.
