If you had a daughter who brought over a bf/gf who told you they work for somewhere like wal mart

Would you think "oh my God what a clown/loser"?

Not at all. Career ambition is hollow. It's like living your whole life with blinders on. You're not accomplishing anything substantial, you're not bettering the lives of others, you're not working on yourself. You're just collecting coins and trading them in for soulless distractions.

At least a retail worker would know how to hard work and handle stress. They'll develop more character dealing with those difficulties than someone browsing the web half the day in an office

Heck no, there's no shame in an honest living. Id be more concerned if she brought home a leisurely unemployed seeking support his entire life.

Nope! Her life her choice. Experience is the best teacher. Now saying that doesn't mean I wouldn't give her advice. But in the end it's still her choice.

It depends entirely on what age they are.

It really depends, tbh. There are a lot of variables in that situation. It good be good, bad, and everything in between.
