Been 15 years or so but I used to take my boys and a couple of their friends every summer to a place in the pine barrens. Nice lake with a guarded swimming area and canoe rentals. Tent sites with nearby restrooms and showers. Very reasonable and fun!

@Stereoguy Looking at 5th wheels, lots of room and might end up being more than just occasional use camping. I'm getting close to retiring.

In April we went to Zion National Park. We went tent camping and had a blast. My favorite hike.

@Stereoguy That is so exciting! Our extended family all bought trailers. They've been trying to get us to do the same, but I really like the simplicity of tent camping right now. Trailer would have been great when the kids were little. Enjoy your RV!🙂

The last GOOD camping trip was to Mohawk Trail State Park in western Massachusetts. I used to love camping there, up on the embankment on the Cold River. There were two giant white pines, about 200 years old, and we could pitch the tent right between them. There is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the river rushing over the rocks, and nothing like watching a campfire at night, knowing there are animals all around you.

@Stereoguy There is a group but they go quite far afield for me...Appalachians and so on.

Mostly we enjoy the permanent camp site. It is a little easier then setting up each time. @Stereoguy

in many ways, from 3rd grade to graduating hs was pretty much camping most every day.

@Stereoguy if I could, I'd build a small cabin. I'm not sure if you'd classify that as a glamp.

I have backpacked, canoe trip tent camped, and drive in tent camped. Have also backpacked into deep woods forest shelters...(3 sided cabins). Mostly camped in tents. I have never RV'ed and only camped twice in a popup tent camper when a child.

Nothing like a tent, sleeping bag, and a ground mat.

@Stereoguy If I had a wood or coal fired oven that was down, I'd need it repaired right away.

@Stereoguy a Maruishi touring bike from the 80`s. I love the peace and quiet in the woods. Especially love hearing the waves in the middle of the night.

Yep. We just camped at a campground. It was pretty basic and only for a single night.

@Stereoguy Nah, I don't really like the idea, tbh.
I've never done it before either though so.
