If i raise an adopted child, would i be a single mother?

bowman81 · M
You would be a mother, single or married makes no difference. It isn't about titles or classes it is about the love of a parent for their child.
EmilyEdith · 56-60, F
@bowman81 I'm not sure I agree there is no difference between being raised by one parent or two. We could argue advantages, but they are very different,
bowman81 · M
@EmilyEdith I'm not saying there are not advantages and disadvantages....I am saying you are a parent and that is paramount. Being single or with a partner is not a badge of distinction. The emphasis should be on the child, not the status or category of the parent.
EmilyEdith · 56-60, F
@bowman81 thank you for clarifying. I agree 100%. There is no model, and it's definitely about the children, not the title.
as a strict definition, sure. although as I understand it, most adoption agencies are loathe to let singles adopt.

Yes.
I already had two bio girls, rising them alone.
And adopted my third one also being no more married and without a partner.
And was the single father of three before being the same for two.
Ishtar · 22-25, F
@CharlieZ that's just amazing. I was wondering weather I would even be allowed to adopt a child without having a partner.
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
@Ishtar You are right. They do not allow it easily.
But was an unusual situation and the judge was aware of that.
She, my adopted girl, was already a college coed and best friend of one of my other daughters.
At 15 years old, she lost all her family in a car accident.
And become one of us.

Any parent can end up a single parent.
It should scare you a little. There is plenty to think about.
If it scares you a lot I would reconsider having children right now.

If I ate a potato would I save the world?

@DrSunnyTheSkeptic thank you. And I'm sorry I jumped down your throat. As an adoptive mom I receive a lot of criticism for it. And it has left me sensitive. I apologize.
DrSunnyTheSkeptic · 26-30, M
@SW-User Adoption is fucking awesome, why would anyone criticize you for that? You're giving some lucky kid a better life. The problem is that not many would do it because they'd prefer their own, which is something encoded in our genes.
SW-User
@DrSunnyTheSkeptic so many reasons. Lol. To any to get into online. But thanks for the encouragement. ;)

In UK legal definition... Yes
SW-User
@SW-User how so? Do you mean to tell me Britain does not consider adopted children actual children of their parents? How would she not be a parent.
SW-User
@SW-User no she would be a single parent. The issues with UK legal stuff is things like I have a friend who is married. His wife is absent and has bfir months but he can't locate her. He can't yet claim as a single parent until divorce us settled... Which is difficult as she is absent.
