Does aging or getting older make you sad?

SW-User
It's only the people & pets I lose that bother me. Otherwise, I'm ok with aging. I think it suits me because I'm literally still growing, and growth is good.🌷

@SW-User Cute new avi, btw... love the curls!
SW-User
@SW-User really? I love them but I think they don't look so nice on me😅
Thank you 😊

@SW-User you're welcome, hun.🌟
MaryJanine · 61-69, F
No, I don't. I am 64 and admit to it. But my sister-in-law is 13 years my junior and she just turned 50 and feels her life is "over". Why? There are sometimes "perks" all over when you age. I don't look my age (so I am told) and as long as I don't, I'm going to enjoy it for as long as God lets me.

In the last three months, I have had three grammar school/high school classmates die - my age, or maybe a year or two difference. Two of cancer, and one of a brain aneurysm. It makes me more determined to take care of myself.
SW-User
@MaryJanine I was so happy to read this! More power to you! I will be turning 50 in about a year and a half, and actually, I am kind of looking forward to what a new decade may bring.
MaryJanine · 61-69, F
Thanks. I was worried a bit when I approached the age my mother was when she died (at age 55) but when I passed that, I figured God wanted me around for a while longer and to make the most of it. After all, I reasoned, both my dad and his mother survived to their late 70's.
Yah. The idea of being without my loved ones is very saddening to me.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@LithiumDrop same for me
SW-User
Not really lately because I am enjoying my life, trying to learn a lot also I being a mom and also I am trying to stay away from negative influences... So I am just enjoying the present and that's it.
.. When I think about people, or my beloved pets that are important for could die before me, that saddens me, it's like I know I am not prepared for that and will be quite difficult
The idea that my time in this world is drawing to a close is sobering.
However, it beats the ultimate alternative. Any day above ground is a good one, so I try to make the best of it. 👩🏽‍🦳

@bijouxbroussard 😎 👍
Fernie · F
What makes me saddest is the way others perceive me now because I have some grey hair and a few wrinkles. I'm invisible, which is not ALWAYS a bad thing...often treated like I am braindead...I straighten that out right way...and no longer viable. I'm only old on the outside
@Fernie 🤗
@Fernie This song gives me chills...

Smokey · 46-50, M
No, its something that happens to everyone
Karmalives · 51-55, M
@Smokey and you will never catch up to me Smokey 😜
Only because I’m not where I’d like to be in life currently, and I’m just getting older but not moving forward or the direction I’d like to be moving towards. Otherwise, it doesn’t bother me. I know a lot of people are concern with aging, because of the physical aspects that comes with it, but I couldn’t care less when it comes to that.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
No, it beats the alternative. I'm thank God for every day of my life after being sick. I'm very thankful for every heartbeat. 1
@Fungirlmmm we're glad you're here to
I love the salt n pepper on my top floor but physical pains keeps killing me gradually.

No it's just part of life. We are born get older and die. The years we have we just need to make the most of them.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
Not really, I accept that I'm getting older. Happens to us all.
SW-User
No. Not really. Imma be a hot ass milf.
Karmalives · 51-55, M
@SW-User lol 😁
EmilyEdith · 56-60, F
It does.
It went by fast!
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
Seeing people I love getting older scares me because I want them with me always
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit It's curse - all of us lucky to have parents who are still around that we love get to watch them grow old.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
@Stark @CountScrofula I lost my mother when I was very young so that was difficult to grow up with. But people like my father who I’ve always been so close with I don’t know how I’ll live my life without him. I know everyone figures it out but still just another part to life that is so difficult it’s hard to picture until you’re living it.
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit This is the hardest part for me, too. 🤗

In fact I like the idea of getting older, sitting on that bench, in front of that old house of mine, and watching the wild geese fly over the lake.
It's inevitable so not really. However if I was terminally ill or had issues which changed my quality of life then I'd answer differently
SW-User
No. Not sad. Just a little shocked at how soon it came. I am looking forward to more adventures!
SW-User
Sometimes, yes...It seems like time really flies and before you know it,you are old.
@SW-User like your username n dp. Once upon a time, I had an intense affair with those watermelons.
FizzBangPop · 56-60, F
I’d be sadder in a box, so no, not really. I just suck it up....and get on with it, lol.
Northerner · 70-79, M
Never sad about getting older .I prefer it to the alternative .lol
SW-User
No. It's okay. Asians don't raisin till 99.
SW-User
@SW-User 😂
CharlieZ · 70-79, M
No, not aging.
Yes, the desires not reached in so long years.
Bagalamaga · 56-60, M
No,everyone else seems to be doing the same
SW-User
It does somewhat. What makes it harder is I lose a relative every other year or so...and the family's getting smaller. I've seen many elderly people whose families have all passed and all they have left of them is the memories and a few photos. I dread the possibility of that happening to me. If that is my destiny, i'd rather just die young.
Mindful · 56-60, F
As a species we are young, no matter how “old” we seem to be. Just like a child is ignorant about his era, we are ignorant about our own era, because are focused on criticizing everyone else’s - msb
Fernie · F
@Mindful you really DO have a mournful mind

Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
Yup I'm 28 and I feel old af
Fernie · F
@Beatbox34 I'm so sorry you are burdened with this.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@Fernie I'm not burdened but mocked at on a regular basis. I have mild liver issues. It's not because I want to but I have a lot to deal with and I'm getting weak mentally as I'm getting old with the responsibilities and problems I deal with on a regular basis. I have been dealing with all of this ever since I turned 21 after my dad died and screwed us
Fernie · F
The definition of burden is...to hold or carry something heavy or accept or deal with something difficult...you're burdened emotionally and physically...is there something about that word that bothers you? You got a raw deal...like so many of us. I don't have any idea how you're handling it though.

It used to make me sad, but then I would forget why I was sad and yell at those darn kids to get off my lawn
It makes me sad I haven't found the life I was looking for at this point in my life.

It is bittersweet for me because I aged too young.

Aging is a disease that needs to be cured
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Fernie that's you though, I don't think we shouldn't repair damage, because the prevailing theory of aging is that's just damage accumulation. You get animals in nature with negligible senescence. And people who don't want it can always opt out. Me I wanna live as long as possible, and I want my loved ones to live as long as possible.
Fernie · F
@basilfawlty89 Thank you for telling me that "that's you though" ...I thought EVERYONE felt the same way!
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Fernie there's no need to be rude
