It's all perspective, that's for sure. But, money is kinda fundamental there, as well. At least a base amount to survive and fulfill all one's needs.
But, also, North Koreans are supposedly happier than South Koreans. Which isn't a high benchmark, since South Korea is the suicide capital of the world. Or at least top 10. Because North Koreans have community, even if they have nothing else. At least, this is what the guys who have successfully fled have said.
Can you imagine it? You run away from this horrid country where they force 12 year olds to watch public executions, people routinely starve to death, constant threat of the government killing them, they escape, go to a modern country with all kinds of technology and shiny toys.....and they feel worse than when they were living in the oppressive country.
