Did your grandpa or anyone else ever call the cows in with a particular kind of tune?

The way my grandpa would say it is "suke calve, suke, suke,suke. Then years later I heard a bird making the same tune he would say that in. It was a cardinal! Lol cracks me up. Wonder why old timers stole the music of a cardinal to call in the cows lol
