Why do some people expect someone to apologize after being emotional or showing feelings?

That's a dumb thing to apologize for. I was expressing my feelings to my neighbor about my late mother and how angry and upset I am. Some people looked at me like I have a problem but I didn't care. I have feelings and I'm going to be unapologetic about it. This girl expected an apoligy from me for acting out like that. I didn't listen to her.
