Anyone actually ever called the national suicide prevention hotline?

....was it even helpful?

No they can't talk to you and can't tell stories from their own life even, and all they wanna do is see if u are a police case, so the police dept. likes them cause it keeps their workload down and the nuthouse likes them cause it drives a lot of (often illegitimate) business. Nobody there understands that pain is the cause and no client gets that these workers don't know about that or care. They want their career resume to look good or they wanna think of themselves as good people. But it takes more than gestures in an office. Real connection and community are lacking and should be built stronger to prevent this level of despair, and the workers are not able to discuss this or anything else.

@Platoscave I really don't understand how you feel about all of this. KIDDING...! Thanks for your responses.

They work 4 the system and pretty much keep it in place when what is needed everywhere is integrated systems of mutual community and mutual self help and some healthy democracy behind it, meaning inclusion of everyone in economic and social decisions. That would cut into the despair. I have figured out these places after being hurt one too many times that way.

@Platoscave I am sorry. Thank you for sharing your experiences with me.

I’ve contacted a hotline for mental health before. I feel like it didn’t do anything. Talking to random people on here was more help. I found it difficult to talk to close family/friends about what was going on. SW is great when you talk to the right people.

@Mistypetal Thank you.

I called once or twice last year because I was really down that time. I called and they put me on hold, while playing "How Deep Is Your Love".
There is a man talked to me he got very good sense of humor. I was crying in the beginning, I ended up laughing because of some of his joke. Anyway, the point is the hotline purpose is to talk when you are in crisis. Solving problem? Of course, not. They aren't wizard to fix everything.

They are there to help you to talk while others don't.
I did and they put me on hold - and played "Crazy" by Patsy Cline

- The Simpsons

@ItsJustMeAgain[c=#665D00] Not to make light of the help that the Hotline gives to folks - I have never called them nor ever had any reason to - but there are many that need this help and I am glad that this support system is in place for them. I just wish more people took advantage of the service instead of killing themselves. [/c]

@MarmeeMarch Understood, and thank you. Sometimes it's good to laugh thru the sadness. 💙

@MarmeeMarch heh...
I did, and no, it wasn't. I talked to some guy named Jeff, who interrupted me, and told me he had to answer some other calls. I'll never call again.

@PhoenixPhail 😲 that's awful...!
@ItsJustMeAgain He didn't seem equipped for the job. Had I contacted the organization and reported my experience, I think they would have gotten rid of him.

@Ambroseguy80 well I tried to communicate something here. Looks like the hotline communicated the same **** to everyone else too.

I think we're all on our own, kiddies.

TY Ambrose.

Appreciate the acknowledgement.
They put me on hold.
ItsJustMeAgain · 51-55, F
@PhoenixPhail Are you still on hold with him?--maybe that's their way of preventing suicide??? 😂😳
@ItsJustMeAgain I hadn't thought of that, but somehow, I don't think so. lol

Not really. The guy on the other end was super unsympathetic and seemed to get bored. He hung up on me after like 10 minutes saying “well, good luck buddy!” 😐
ItsJustMeAgain · 51-55, F
@Zaphod42 Omg really? That's ridiculous. Im sorry. 💙
Yes. And it was, the second time; someone calm and able to sound empathetic answered. She gave me some practical advice.

@bijouxbroussard You lucked out.
@Platoscave I did.
