For those of you who we're alive at this time, what was 1976 like?

According to my baby photos everything was mustard yellow, burnt orange or avocado green.
@abe182 did you have the ubiquitous burnt orange floral couch?

@ProdigalSummer yes I did! corduroy not floral, with a crochet blanket on it

It was a party. The war was over, hippies were growing up and freaks took over, with no direction. Most of us didnt think we would live to see thirty. I lost way too many friends to drunk driving accidents. Drinking age was 18. Looking back, it seems i attended a funeral more than i attended the graduation parties. I enlisted in the air force to get away from the chaos of life.
The bicentennial made for good fireworks......

I remember the USA's 200 year old bi-centennial celebration was a big deal

Platform shoes for both guys & galls, high-waisted bell-bottoms. Lots of polyester. Levi Strauss ruled.

The US had just pulled out of war that at best 'was not decided.' Some will say we lost. Peace was 'in' for a short time.

What I remember most is that rock was beginning to explode and take off. Probably some of the best writing ever.
I was 8...I don’t remember much except my first trip to the US and how I ate so much friggin clams in San Francisco Chinatown and I had nasty diarrhea for the next 2 days...😅

I remember playing Pong for hours at my friend’s house in LA.

I was only three at the time, but I recall corduroy being very popular, as was butterfly collars

I was two. The cars were grotesque. Turquoise and purple were popular colors

Hell. I was two and my horror began then. All I remember

In England 76 was a red hot summer that lasted till late September.

It was all about the Bicentennial. Even Elton John had Philadelphia Freedom as a hit. I was just beginning my interest in music and drumming. I remember being by the beach July 4 and watching the fireworks while eating fried chicken.
