Just 2 southern gentlemen having a pleasant conversation for all intense purposes ,and neither one was rude to the other
aren't we just fine examples of Southern Hospitality and democracy at work .
My teachers were prime examples of "Southern Bells ",the highest upbringing and educations ,who looked upon seeing kids also had proper schooling as a civic duty ,(most men in the area only had 9th grade educations ,they dropped out of school to work and help support their families during some of the hardest times in our history ,so school was not seen as important to most .
Since my family name was ranked with the elite of the area and many of my family members were involved in local government and state politics ,and I had written 2 metal winning essays on figures from history ,that were forefathers of ladies who make up the group known as "The Daughters of the American Revolution aka DAR ",they were attempting to nudge me to follow suit .pursue higher education and possibly politics ,they meant well .
But instead I chose to follow in my mothers Dads footsteps and join the US Coast Guard ,and leave the politics to the prim and proper side of my family ,
Go save lives ,not add to a government that was already trying to destroy our way of life ,and close the river from commercial fishing ,the livelihood and back bone of our little town ,,,In other words ,I didn't give a damn about politics and still don't ,though I do stand up for democracy and justice
Every American should have a voice regardless of his or her education or color,and the laws of the land should apply to everyone the equally ,,no one above the law or treated better then anyone else ,,just because they attended Harvard ,and have perfect penmanship ,and impeccable use of the English language
That still makes them no better then you or I ,,
2 Souther Gentlemen if you will ,having a civil conversation and not insulting one another over a difference of opinion .

@HueyPLong didn't try to assume to much ,just a little wise ass humor ,mixed with a blanket statement as to where I fit in (or don't )in the south ,with democracy and so on ,while trying to continue to be a true older southern gentlemen .(it's possible our definition s of southern gentleman differ too ,IDK.
But I am
Capable of reading "about me "on a profile page ,and read a few stories and comments and have some indication as to whom I am speaking to ,
But please forgive me if my statement in anyway implied

But people as a rule do talk about or post things they care about or support ,,
Just saying .
But again ,it was civil .
