Hypocrisy is a terrible thing

@MasterLee I saw her on a morning talk show and she walked slow like she was wearing a pair of adult diapers...I guess she still performs but at the age she is she needs to grow up.

@SheikYerbouti I'm not really that surprised, nor am I that outraged. Cher is an entertainer, and one who's begun to act a little cuckoo as she's gotten older. I don't think she really puts much thought into these things.

@KioCo The intention was to close down asylums and open up new facilities that were closer to people's homes, with better trained staff and stuff like that. So mentally ill people who couldn't function on their own would still be able to have a life at least partially with their families and friends. Which sounds like a great idea, and I would support such a transition, but Reagan (or rather, his administration) only got to the part where they closed the asylums, and then scrapped the project and just left everyone homeless. Reagan's own mental cohesion was decaying long before most of the country knew about it.

That sounds like a more expensive option. I wonder what got them to let go of the initial idea, probably political stuff. It's a contraversial and complex issue to deal with, probably will remain a problem for the times to come
