Would you return their present?

It was a friend of mines birthday today. I told him a week in advance I wasn't able to go down to the bar as I had something to take care of early the next day. He understood and said ok. Looks like he changed his plans and held a later dinner instead. Gee thanks for the lack of invite. Guess you won't be needing your gift after all.

@Tobasco To the bar I couldn't. He had originally wanted to go to the bar at around 10pm. The dinner was completely a new thing he had at an earlier time than he wanted to go to the bar at.
