Even though Smudge projects an aura of intense dislike

around Riff: I do catch them being quite sweet to one another. Cats express affection by touching noses and kind of kissing. Today Riff initiated a nose touch and Smudge let it go on for some time.
And they can share me on the couch when I'm lying down watching TV, Smudge curls up on my stomach and Riff takes the crook of my elbow.
The fights are less frequent. I think they may be cultivating a kind of understanding.
