@Lostpoet I agree with you. But yes, it also depends on the family. Would you raise your kids the way you’ve been raised ?

@SW-User I honestly don't know because my own faith is about nil right now, but I think it's important that kids have an understanding that they should treat others with compassion and understanding and I don't know if that kind of stuff can be taught on its own.

@Lostpoet I’m sure compassion, empathy, kindness, morals can be taught without religion. I wasn’t raised with religion so I might be the living proof. Lol.

@exexec Did your kids stay in the church? And would you love them less if they didn't believe in God.

@Lostpoet Yes, my kids and their families are still active in their churches. No, I wouldn't love them any less or treat them any differently if they didn't believe in God. They are free to go their own way. In fact, my faith is a bit heretical.

I think I would have been closer with the family if we spent that time at a park each week or something.

@Lostpoet I am Catholic and regular mass was only 45 minutes - maybe an hour on Easter and Christmas - not 3 hours.

@Indy74 That's what I mean it seemed like something for the parents and not the whole family.

@Lostpoet exactly! When I did go to church as a kid, I never understood what the preacher was talking about. My parents just made the decision to stop going and fam time got so much better.☺
