For a good reason, I hate seeing people I like being hurt by my stupidity so it’s best I give them back to the world.

I wouldn’t say foolish, but unless the people whose lives you’re ruining with your “stupidity” are small children, they’re old enough to make that decision for themselves.
If you’d like to keep them around, you can. Give the people around you some credit, unless they truly do lack the capability to make wise decisions about who they hang out with. Maybe they know you’re going to get them into a bit of trouble and maybe they think you’re worth it.
