If we eradicated religion would we have peace?

rckt148 · 61-69, M
that was tried back in 1798 ,it only took 3 yrs for France to realize they made a huge mistake
they tired alternatives to give the people something to believe in /worship
that only made things worse ,,,
Its been tried many times
The problem is religion ,,God wants us to know He is God
and counterfeits can't help you
and unlike religion ,,,he does not need to scare you for your love
but only those who actually know Him understand that
Its not something you can get people to accept ,,maybe the fakes can pretend for a season ,,

I do not love God because of anything a man told me
I believe in Him because I had no where left to turn ,,and He saved me
healed me ,and changed my life
You can get rid of religion ,,you will never get rid of God

Wouldn't want to@rckt148

Briefly maybe.
Unfortunately that wouldn't stop the bigoted or egotistic making some sort of attempt to enslave other humans to their own idealistic whims.

Id start by eradicating politics. The real cancer of society.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@BeefySenpie why is that?
@JovialPlutonian People are still corrupt and will fight for power, wealth, land etc.
Laifu · 46-50, F
Religion bothers me because it allows people to justify their hatred. I have a lot more power when I can condemn people in the name of my deity than I do if it is just me angry about something. Personally, I despise religion. That being said, I don't think people would act better without religion. Radical Muslims and Evangelical Christians would be bad people, even if they didn't have a book that they felt justified their hate. We seem to have a desire to always feel superior to someone else, and apparently hate them as well. We will simply find different ways to sort ourselves into groups and use those to attack other people. Look at how divided politics and ethnicity makes us. People just suck.

No, the godless communist regimes don't support religion. They do a fine job in fighting wars and killing millions.

We would need to eradicate all living beings to have peace.
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@SW-User even 8 righteous had offspring that loved evil
it would take the total destruction of man ,
That way was attempted too LOL
SW-User
@rckt148 Indeed. And even after destruction of man, our perception of "peace" would not exist among the animals either.
You think it’s religion or money and power that corrupts?

MrAboo · 36-40, M
Eradicating it would likely lead to violence.
Zoeoz · 26-30, F
Maybe some areas would be a lot more peaceful, relative to the status quo. But I don't think the eradication of religion would eliminate conflict entirely, and even if it did, it would probably bring about some unintended consequences.
No, but at least people would be killing each other for better reasons.
PrivatePeeks · 26-30, F
No. Only a better religion based on nature might begin to create peace and order.

Probably not, but it would be a giant step towards it. Next step, abolish borders.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
Suppose it comes down to possessiveness@Unquestioned
Unquestioned · 70-79, M
That's the next step.
