Did you know the governments can shut down the Internet?

Apparently the government of Zimbabwe shut down the internet so their people couldn't spread the news that they are being brutalised by the army and police . It's punishment for protesting against the fuel tax being raised high hence it being far too expensive to take their children to school ect

I think they did it in Egypt when that civil war happened. Also China blocked sites like google, facebook, etc. that you can not access from there without a VPN.
And there is a region of Russia, city called Magas where the gov blocked the internet recently. Like 3 months ago.

Without the internet, people can't use banks, can't book flights. I know people who have family there and it's scary!

@GlassDog could just go to the airport and see where it takes you 😂 probably scary to go outside though

@Pureblossom A lot of the booking systems require internet access to know how many seats are free, to book insurance, etc., etc. Virtually nothing works without the internet now. In ten years, most of our water, power, and gas will be reliant too.
