There was a documentary on TV a few years ago that compared an identical pair of glasses bought in England and Hong Kong.
The price in England was just over £100.
Hong Kong price the equivalent of £4.50 !

For another interesting, "Hmm", moment. Why aren't eyeglasses/contact lenses considered a medical device? They aren't a prosthetic, per se, as they do not replace the missing eye; BUT they do cause they eye to perform within normal parameters. Hmmm! 🤔

There is one company that makes nearly all of the eyeglasses that are sold around the world. It seems to be a monopoly.
