My parents were glad I didn't win this time. Do most parents feel that way too?

When I was a kid, I've always wanted to win win win. I almost won at every game. I would get mad when I lose. My teachers told me to get over it and it's okay to lose. They even made me lose on purposes. At a soccer game my team almost always won but we had to compete against a tough team and we lost this time. We were devastated. I was super upset. I was about 9 I think. My parents are brutally honest. My mom flat out told me that she is glad we didn't win this time. She said, "Sorry you lost the game but...I'm kind of glad you didn't win this time. You guys always win." I was shocked when she said that. My dad said, "You guys should let others win for a change. Let other kids win. You gotta learn to lose too. We kind of wanted to see you lose this time." I was crying and yelled, "Mom and dad you are so mean!" Mom said, "Mean? Or honest? We're not trying to make you feel better. We're telling you because it's the truth. The truth isn't always a nice thing to hear. We want you to also be a good loser too not a sore one." Dad then said, "That's also why kids don't wanna play with you because you're a sore loser and you're a worse sore winner."
I didn't talk to my parents for the rest of the day but they didn't seem sorry for it.
