How come some parents abandon their own children?

My parents were two sick jackasses with mental problems. I was a mistake they allowed someone to talk into keeping. And then my purpose after that was to be used to receive a check and a tool to try and control one another. After their plans backfired I was on my own after that. Beat the hell out of me why they didn't just get the abortion like they planned. It was a real waste of effort on their part.

I have no idea. I read this article online- there was a house fire and the mom escaped leaving her 5 children behind. All the children died (including 1yr old twins). It had me in tears.
