If you owned a gun and somebody broke into your home, would you use it?

The person wouldn't be armed. Just shocked to the fact that somebody was home.

@Dan193 Why should I have to deal with the guilt of having to shoot someone when they are the ones who made bad choices? If he's not armed and doesn't push me into a corner, I wouldn't shoot.

I'd call the police and let them handle it. Most of my life I've lived with guns and I never had occasion to aim one at somebody. Came close to that twice. I'd like to die with the no-shoot record intact.

Yes I would .I was trained in the ownership of handguns and rifles at a young age and my dad shot a guy dead in our hall way when I was a kid and I chopped a guys hand off with a machette he died later .

Yeah, but see I'd be way too likely to use the gun even in situations that aren't dire, like a home invasion. You know how advocates of gun control tell you that not everyone should own a firearm? They're talking about people like me. I'm EXACTLY the kind of person who shouldn't be allowed to have a gun. I know myself well enough to say with confidence that I would be irresponsible af with it, and probably pull it out and point it at people on the road when I get into fights with other drivers and shit like that.

If we had a home invasion... my gun would not be used. (They are both locked in a safe in the basement)

I have one of those brighter than the sun flashlights next to the bed.

@Dan193 I would assess the situation. It could be a drunk person, a child, or a mentally challenged individual who needs help. If they tried to attack me or my family then that’s a different story.
