Blame the British. We fixed some of it.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
It can be confusing. It can be understood through tough thorough thought though. 🙂

@Longpatrol Maybe...it would at least teach them some spelling.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@Wraithorn I think they know it but their street cred would tank if they used queen's English.

'Builders build buildings' is a pretty amusing sentence Haha. I know someone who doesnt know english very well got very confused when I said it to her.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@SeductiveCactus I can see where that would be a problem sentence. I had lots of those type of problems when trying to teach my Chinese wife English.

Spelling is weird at times too.
H-O-M-E spells home and is pronounced like it's spelled. But then, if you're fixing your hair do you use a C-O-M-E? No. The has an "uh" sound. You use a C-O-M-B.

@IM5688 But "Chinese" is known to be a hard language, English is not.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@SW-User I would have to disagree with you when you say English is not a hard language. English, especially for those learning English as a second language, English is very difficult and confusing. However, you are very correct about Chinese being very difficult. The Chinese language uses different tones to change the meanings of their words. This is extremely difficult to master.

@IM5688 English is not my mother tongue. To this day, it is still the easiest language I've ever had to learn.

You bake cookies, and cook bacon.
You drive over an underpass and drive under an overpass.
I'm sure I'll think of more, but that's about all I've got for now.
