Any Civil Engineer/Mechanical engineer on here please help me with this little question馃槄

I'm studying for an exam on structural analysis. In the slope deflection method of indeterminate beam analysis (or any method for that matter), if the moment of inertia of the cross section of two beams is different, is it true that the support in between them must sink? I've never heard that before till today from a course mate and just want to confirm that its true. Its kind of hard to Google a question like that. I asked Quora and haven't gotten any answer yet, thought I might as well give this place a shot since someone was able to help me out with a question I had while studying Vibration Analysis.

@Kingfish28 Hi kingfish, just to update you on this, apparently he learned that from the teaching assistant, I think I have to let the professor in charge know that the TA isn't sure of what he's doing. Got my test paper back today and take a look at the comment he wrote at the top of the page. I did well overall in the test but I'm kind of pissed off because of this.

@SW-User I know how to do the slope deflection method, in the example in the video the second moment of area is uniform throughout the continuous beam. I was wondering if I HAVE to solve with the middle support 'sinking' if the second moment of area is different
A beam subjected to a positive bending moment will tend to develop a concave-upward curvature

@TheReaverCleaver correct. What I'm asking is if while using the slope deflection method, for example, in a beam with three supports the "3d/l" should be considered if the moment of inertia of connected elements in a continuous beam are different.
