@SW-User Ummm, let me say I have been into it the steam punk thing for years and years. The big change in the crafts and art I've noticed over the last 5 or so years is that with more and more people comming into it. The less Victorianesque and mechanically sensical the designs are taking. Like more and more it's just put some random aged copper and brass patina gears on some clothes and call it steam punk. Yes, it's going too far in the Sci-Fi and too far away from the time period.
