No, it isn´t just you.

Most american films are filled with cliches and ideals of how the "real" americans are.

I prefer indy films who dare to think outside the box and portray life in america as it really is.

Yes, it's just you. The US film industry is a big machine, and certainly a huge amount of their output is crap, but some American movies are [u]genuine art[/u]. Movies by Jim Jarmusch come to mind, especially "Dead Man", with music by Neil Young.

Maybe you should think, instead, that there are a LOT of very bad screenplay writers and very bad actors and actresses?

Have you seen Korean films? Why is shit just randomly happening? Why am I expected to remember a character I saw once and they didn’t even introduce them? Why is she falling in love with the dude who killed her sister? Who the hell is this new person that is suddenly significant.

Unless you’re watching a documentary, movies are [b]fantasy[/b]. The author or screenwriter’s vision of reality. By definition it can’t represent all segments of the masses. 😄

Thats why Hollywood, CA is known for bringing entertainment to the world. Forign films are basically upgraded high school or jc grades of a film class.

Gotta explore, there's lots of classics, but if you're only interested in recent films, i have as bleak an outlook as you.
