Why is moving out on your own so expensive?

To live in a decent area it seems I need at least $800 a month from when i was looking at apartments last in decent areas. I cant afford that

I think youd need more..gotta pay bills, need food and gas for car and maintenance. Car ins, health ins..
800 hundred is cheap where i live, rent is usually 1500...

Moving out takes some financial planning... best wishes

your best bet is either to rent a room or look for a studio. I lived in a studio for 2 years and the rent was actually pretty good.

You must live in an inexpensive area. But...

Housing costs are high because everyone looks at property as an investment. Wealthy people but property and expect to turn a profit on it. This causes housing prices to go up, which creates a higher barrier to entry for home ownership. That forces more people into renting. More people renting means more demand for rentals which means rents can be increased.

Housing crisis helped housing prices for a bit, though they are getting out of control again. But rent stayed high because people have to live somewhere.

Housing isn't optional, so they can charge what they want.

It is these days.

That's actually a cheap apartment. Try renting a room with utilities included instead, (meke sure there is a lock on the door) and when you do get an apartment think about getting a roommate.

@paper Well, think about a roommate, in that case, but make sure you have a lock on your bedroom door and make sure you lay down the rules in advance and have him sign them.

it's not fair, surely we are all entitled to a nice roof over our heads for a small amount of money? it's so basic a human need, so nessecary for happiness and individuation

Have you considered a studio apartment? If not do you have a close friend who would share an apartment with you. This would cut your expenses in half.

Because people are greedy fucks. I pay $700 month for a tiny ass studio apartment.
My duplex is $500. ill sublease my closet to you for $175.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@DarlingSelah did it come with appliances? I wouldn't mind a duplex for my first place. How much are bills?

that's cheap where I come from. Around here you need at least 1000 to survive. 2000 to live in a decent area.
