Y'all ready for this conspiracy theory about lawyers?

1. Can't legally lie, but they trade in half-truths and misleading language
2. Obsessed with contracts
3. Required to follow the letter (but not the spirit) of the law
4. Really good at exploiting loopholes
5. Range from semi-helpful to openly malevolent

Conclusion: Fairies. Lawyers are fae folk

And importantly, you need to leave a glass of milk out by the doorstep for your lawyer or they'll kill your pig.
NorthernRoses22-25, F
@CountScrofula If you get help from a lawyer you're required to give them your first-born
CountScrofula41-45, M
@NorthernRoses Yes, but they won't claim your first born when you expect it. They'll come calling at a later date with a wink and a curse.
DragonFruit61-69, M
Yes, everyone loves to bash lawyers (and doctors)....until they need one.
FernieF
@DragonFruitIf you hadn't practiced law for over 30 years I would be more inclined to believe you. We are in the same generation...I have never met a lawyer with enough integrity for my taste
DragonFruit61-69, M
@Fernie Are you saying that I don鈥檛 have enough integrity for your taste? I鈥檓 just saying that lawyers are basically no different than members of any other profession....there are mostly good people, with a significant minority of others (as in any profession). I wouldn鈥檛 bash ALL of the members of any legitimate profession.
Believe it or not I, and others who worked with me, took great care to do what was best for our clients and were certainly honest.
FernieF
@DragonFruit That may very well be true Dragon...my life experience with lawyers makes it impossible for me to believe it

Attorneys are necessary because attorneys exist, and the opposing side will have one, so you'd better. Attorneys chiefly read law, not because it's a beautiful story, but to identify the areas where it doesn't actually say what it looks like it says, doesn't mean what it sounds like it means..

When it does say what it looks like it says, they then ferret out a judge or two who at some point in time ruled that it didn't really say that.

There should be at least one more acceptable answer to 'How do you plead?' In addition to "Guilty" and "Not Guilty"
we should add, "Dunno yet. Ask my lawyer."

@Mamapolo2016 Thank you (from a retired attorney).

@Jackaloftheazuresand Stormy Daniels's lawyer?
Does that mean silver bullets will work on them?

But generally still has to be fashioned into the form of some symbol of faith doesn鈥檛 it? I mean, I can鈥檛 just pick up aunt Thelma鈥檚 gravy boat and thwart a vampire can I. If I can, good to know!@NorthernRoses
NorthernRoses22-25, F
@wrestle4fun I think it's just silver in general? There was this whole thing, like "if you wear a silver ring and a person recoils from a handshake they're a vampire". So yeah, if you ever meet a vamp, just go ham crazy on that gravy boat 馃槀

It's also part of the reason why Vampires weren't able to see their reflection in a mirror - most mirrors were made with Silver, Silver trumps Vampire, etc.

Ahhh gotcha! That blood suckers gonna end up with some nice gravy boat shapwd burns I tell ya!@NorthernRoses

NorthernRoses22-25, F
@plaguewatcher Who, the Lawyers or the Faeries?
@NorthernRoses yeah the ancestors. all the tales of dwarves and Faeries, witches and boggles and all such.
were Real People, just different from the Slaver culture ( from whence we GET lawyers) so they were chased, burnt, hunted and ever since revilled.
i know you meant no offense,
but some few of us live still
NorthernRoses22-25, F
@plaguewatcher Yo I was talking Rumpelstiltskin fairies so idk what you're on about
UndeadPrivateer31-35, M
Iron weaponry is also quite effective at killing them. You may be onto something.

@UndeadPrivateer Gives a whole new meaning to 'Rules Lawyers' in D&D. 馃槣
CheshireCatalyst36-40, M
No interest in conventional mortality, more focused on deals and debts owed.
CheshireCatalyst36-40, M
