Fast food is a dead end job agree or disagree?

I believe it is. A lot of people get stuck here without much hope or will to get out. I originally started in fast food. Left for retail but my mental health got so bad in retail I came back to fast food.

It's better than no job and is all what you make it. If you don't stive to be a lead/shift manager, or course it's going to be dead end.

But it's a job, which is better than being a jobless leech spending someone else's hard earned money.

You could be manager, then depending on the company you could be regional manager, then maybe a vp or something...

Large corporations like to hire from within. Walmart claims that all of their executives started on the floor of one of their stores.

Fast food I guess is different then Walmart because its usually franchise, so the chances of moving up higher than manager might be more difficult.

@ZeroFox they like outside hires to fill higher positions

@SW-User You're probably right, what I know I read in "The Walmart Effect" by Charles Fishman. Excellent book, I'd recommend it.

unless you become manager, franchise owner or beyond, then yes... retail sucks too but I think fast food is worse. At least with retail I can pretty much work alone.
SW-User
@iamnikki even then manager isnt that great
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SW-User no it really isn't, because you're still very much a part of it all. A step up though😕
Have you been applying for jobs?
What is it that you really want to do in life?

Fast food managers (not shift managers) make about 50K per year. I used to make about 5K more than that as a customer service rep at Verizon, and I got to sit down all day.

You can work your way up to be a franchise owner. It's only a dead end if you want it to be.
SW-User
@MarkPaul that requires a lot of money. I only get paid min wage si that wont happen
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
It's just a job. If you've got a job, just be thankful for small mercies.

Bottom line? You can always learn in any work environment. That has a value.
