Does it make you cringe when a younger person says things only the younger millinials started saying a few years ago? Can you think of anymore?

The one that gets on my nerves is when their only response is "SAME" instead of saying, "yeah" or "me too" or "I agree"
No, but I never like hearing “whatever!”... so rude. Indifference. It’s a shortcut for “I could care less.”

What brings on my cringe is the habit so many seem to have of turning statements in to questions.

@Ynotisay Why do they do it?? Whhhy???
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User I have NO idea. I don't hang out with many millennials but started hearing it a couple of years ago on conference calls. And if you hear it once you hear it ALL the time. I'm hoping it's just a fad. Like dropping in "Right?" when they're telling stories. :)

@Ynotisay I cannot STAND that "right?" thing! Ugh!

Starting a sentence with so is unacceptable
PaleandPolluted · 36-40, F
@BeefySenpie that is mildly acceptable if there was conversation before that got interrupted or you’re changing the subject.
@PaleandPolluted Thank you for accepting me 😌

@PaleandPolluted I'm glad you said that. Lately, when I'm listening to someone being interviewed, when the interviewer asks a question the interviewee ALWAYS begins the answer with "SO" and I could scream!! I have never heard people do that until just recently

I am Gen X. Nearly ALL things the younger folks are saying get on my last nerve.
If you think that's bad wait until you hear bae and lit 🤣

everything the 18-21 year olds do and say chaps my ass

When people start texts with 'how's u' - lord, that annoys the life out of me.

Haha I know. I can't stand "hru" or "gm" "ty" "smh" "tbh" there's so many of them. Been a few times I had to look up what the abriviation meant
MachiavellianSpirit · 26-30, F
I'm not at all familiar with 'gm' and can absolutely relate to having to look up many abbreviations that are utterly foreign to me. I thought 'smh' meant 'shaking my head' but have now learned that it can also mean 'so much hate.' The devolution of language is infuriating at times.

Yeah and it seems the actual spelling of simple words has become difficult for younger people. I'm sure 20 years from now, even the most educated people will not be very good spellers. Who knows, maybe we will end up not even using most words someday. It will be all this cryptic stuff

Every generation has to leave their mark. It's the law. lol
