Can you ever be friends with someone that's swindled you before?

OK not swindled you directly but sold you a malfunctioning product for a lot of money and insisted it was working perfectly before you bought it? We used to be really good friends but ever since he sold me this laptop I don't trust him anymore. He's done a lot of other things to me that really make me lowkey feel resentment towards him but this was the height of it. And for some reason I can't seem to stop being "friends" with him.

Can you be friends with someone you don't trust? Sure. You just have to remember that you cannot trust him. For me, that would be too much effort; I'm not interested in expending my limited friendship energy on someone who can't be trusted. But YMMV.

I'd have trouble staying friends if I felt cheated

@SW-User I feel this resentment towards him but for some reason I can't just shake him out of my life.

Totally up to you, but I'd probably not ever trust that person again

@SW-User I was really stupid tbh, he's sold me a phone in the past that had a minor issue, but he didn't tell me about it and only confessed when I discovered it myself. I should've known not to trust him.
No because they are a crook. A greedy low down scammer and untrustworthy. They aren't a friend. They are a user

Unless they refund you and apologize i wouldnt even talk to them at all evermore 😤 Ugh

He sounds like that sort of friend that dumps his mess on his friends who let him get away with it. And the next time he got some mess, he'll do it again because he gets away with it anyway.

No I’d probably let that friendship fizzle out. It’s little stuff like that that reveals someone’s true personality

Grrr I remember a childhood friend who borrowed me money and five years later remained unpaid..

Maybe he forgot to take out his secret stash

@wakanda4eva as soon as I bought it I noticed the battery didn't last for up to an hour, the touch screen wasn't working properly, the GPU wasn't half as good as he said it was (that's my fault for not doing my research), and he said it was brand new but when I wanted to change the screen last week I noticed a lot of missing screws and some electric tape inside the laptop (I opened it for the first time)

@rickfreeman15 yep, he definitely fucked it up xD a friend that sells shit on the false pretense that it is good (unless its like a prank or smt) is no friend at all
