What is the oldest possession you own?

I have my grandfather's violin. I am not sure the exact age, but I do know it is over 100 years old.

I'm not sure...possibly my great grandmother's bedroom furniture. There may be older stuff...
I need an appraiser! 😂
Myzery · 41-45, F
@Stereoguy Probably close to 100 years old, if not more.

@Stereoguy it has sentimental value and a legendary story behind it, and I don’t want to lose it, because if I have a son it will be passed down to him and if I don’t then I want to be buried with it.

I have a book in archaic Latvian.
It is written with German letters, so I need a cipher to read it.
It is over 100 years old.
That I treasure.

We donated a LOT of Latvian books after Mama passed away.
I was totally against it
but it was not up to me.

@Stereoguy I am so sorry 🤗👼
You will be all together again.
I have to believe that; or this world makes zero sense to me.

Stratovarius violin?
@Stereoguy Yes, Miami would definately be the better choice.

@Stereoguy You're very welcome, I hope it makes the process easier, or at least provides leads to someone who will.
Good luck.☺

This book. I'm not sure how old it is, but 18th century probably. Sorry for the crappy image quality.

@SW-User THAT IS SO COOL

@CountScrofula it's really interesting to see how the accuracy of the illustrations varies depending on how familiar the illustrator was with them. European animals are accurate, but the skunks and guinea pigs I wouldn't recognize.

Probably my car, 1999 Toyota Camry.
@Stereoguy Oh my lord, no. That's dangerous.

She had back troubles, if I remembered correctly.

Debilitating, and painful. Really puts a damper on life at times.

@Stereoguy Wow. That is very precarious, a fall could wrench them. Not good.

I hope generally she fares well with it.

@Stereoguy 1945. His year of birth. My brother got a truck. Honestly, I was a bit pissed about that at first, but the coin meant more.

@Stereoguy I do not know. I do know I have books older than me, at least.
Jewelry from my great, great aunt and grandmother. I had to be so careful cleaning auntie's items, as some were made from materials that weren't intended to last nearly this long. I intend to replace a few small parts here soon.

Funny enough (see sw moniker), some books I've had since high school and a set of Fiesta Ware mixing bowls from my gran. Also, photographs, clothes and crib linens from when my son was an infant.
