30 - 40 kids in age 8-15 playing together, we were kind of a force of nature, taking care of our own

Saturday morning cartoons , mtv when it actually had all music videos on it , walking around the neighborhood from house to house playing with kids in the neighborhood, wholesome t.v shows, having tape music off the radio , waiting...patiently

cartoons - the good ones! and playing out in the trees, hide and seek, jumping over walls, running off to the city - those little things were such a novelty that you don't see around anymore

Lol. I don't know. We had our games and cool technology back then just like them, but things were simpler.
A certain amount of personal freedom, I think. I used to be able to go to the store down on the corner, catch the streetcar into town to see a movie with friends, and walk to and from school when I was under 7 years old, and it was pretty common. Our parents weren't negligent, we all played together, the adults looked out for us and we knew to be home when the sun started to go down. Ironically that changed when we moved to the suburbs and I felt less safe, but I could still go ride my bike. I don't know if kids disappear more now or if we just didn't hear about it back then.
