Why do fathers never want a thing to do with their kids?

Ever since I asked for help and money and told him about it he has done nothing but ignore me
My dad AND mother were always there, although Dad was the more demonstrative.

There can be a lot of reasons. Maybe he doesn’t have the money to give. Maybe there’s history between you. Maybe he’s Selfish and uncaring. Maybe he was raised, as many were and are, to think that once you move out, you’re on your own, sink or swim.

It's not just a male thing. It works both ways. My father did his best to support for me. Yet in my early to late teens mom could only think of from where her next drink would come.

I went to Europe by myself at 14 solely because she was to drunk to fly.
@DeWayfarer you are absolutely right, older the percentage is higher for men than the women.

@aaaabbbb Maybe a little higher. But I doubt by a major factor. I know of others similar to my case.

@reflectingmonkey well some start nice then become assholes

@seashells well I'm sorry for your situation, hope things get better for you.
Depending upon the generation, some men think it is still the woman's job to raise the children in all ways. I think the men of today tend to be more involved then say my dad was. He was always busy working and making money to raise the 7 of us. Nowadays both parents tend to work too. And it is more natural for both to parent.

Are you a single parent? What is his problem?

@PoetryNEmotion I'm pregnant currently and alone. I don't know what his issue is
@seashells I hope you are strong enough to raise this baby on your own. Please think next time on the quality of a father and a man who contributes not only with love, but with commitment. I am sorry he is a loser. Perhaps he is stressed. But he isn't pregnant. Maybe he is scared. I don't know. Be a good mom. I know you know how. Good luck.
My dad's always been there. My mom was never there.
I am really sorry to hear that. I am not sure why he is acting that way. If we bring them in this world it is our obligation to be there for them until our last breath. Unfortunately some men choose not to and fail to be true father.

For the very reason i posted a question for the sperm donners...who i believe i are somewhat selfish...i may be wrong.
