Why do some websites allow their members to tease and bait each other?

Why don't they see that behaviour as trolling and clamp down on it?

People would get sick of having to word everything in a way that they feel would appease a third party. It’s part of the online experience. Got to learn how to defend yourself.

@Bootsiebaby Well, if they’re not too concerned and they run the site, then are you sure you have the right idea.

There has to be some structure from the top even if light. Like kids in a classroom, leave them to their own devices and you have chaos.

@Bootsiebaby Indeed. I know a few. :-)

I don't mind the Teasing if it's Harmless and poking fun at Their Friends they know online Mean Teasing is something I have a problem with

Most sites like trolls because it makes people want to argue which means more hits to the site which means more ad-revenue.

@Bootsiebaby I don't know but I have been on many sites like this one and they all seem the same. A lot of people online are not very nice at all and I spend way too much time avoiding certain people and certain topics. In the ideal world no one should have to do that. I have no time for bullies.

I wonder if it's because it's more about volume/quantity (in members) versus quality. So a lot of things get let go that shouldn't.

@Bootsiebaby It's like any other public place with large numbers of people. Bars, restaurants, malls, etc... there needs to be guidelines that are held up or it becomes little more than neanderthal behaviors. ;-)

And...why do sites allow people to be extremely rude, just because?

@Bootsiebaby Giving those a piece of our mind. And blocking them and the members of their "clan".

@Bootsiebaby Right, not easy...but...there are other ways...anyway, as soon as you start getting offensive comments...there´s one!

Because we're all here, and not on other websites that are more heavily moderated. They know their audience.

@Bootsiebaby I think it's fine as is.

Besides, the author of the post has absolute power in the comments. And if someone bothers you that much, you can always just block them.
