Do you think you re better off alone?

DunningKruger · 61-69, M
I have a saying about my wife, which I share with friends. It's mostly a joke, but also not really.

"There is no situation so good that she can't ruin it, and no situation so bad that she can't make it worse."

My wife has severe emotional issues that go back to her upbringing (her mother and sister both are card-carrying psychopaths). She is also a neurotic hypochondriac who has had enough genuine serious health issues that it's impossible for her not to obsess about her health. She will go out of her way to tell perfect strangers about her health issues. And as often as not she will do everything she can to make any situation — even my mother's recent passing — all about her.

And yet, and yet.... She is loving, and sweet, and charming when she wants to be. She works very hard to take care of me and do things she things that I would like done (whether I would or not is a different issue). She is warm and caring, and I often don't know how I would get through the day without her.

So, no. I think about how things would be if I were alone again, and compare them to how things are now, and I will choose now every time.

For right now yeah I got way to many issues to even consider letting someone into my life right now
@Diesel95 I am sorry for what happened to you. A bad partner can reek havoc upon your life. Trust is certainly an important element in a relationship. I wish you success.

@PoetryNEmotion Thank you I'm still recovering but I'm determined not to let this person ruin what's left of my life
@Diesel95 Don't give them that power. The ex lived a life of deception. I could have let it make me bitter and unhappy for the rest of my life. I did not. I know my value and I love myself too much to waste my second life. You will do fine.
I need my space. I need my home. No, I want a true love.

No, not anymore. I need her like oxygen.
