If different cultures are to live together, do they need to assimilate as one in order for there to be peace? How much of one's own culture can you maintain when coming to a new country?
Assimilation occurs over time and usually in proximity to the power structure.

@madhoncho Many people forget about all the immigrants who came to the U.S. in the late 19th century and created quite an uproar at the time, largely because they've all assimilated by now over generations. It's a gradual process, but it does happen.
