It can be. I think it's usually better to judge someone online than in person because people are more willing to be themselves when they're anonymous. Freedom to act however you choose with little to no consequence encourages that. It can also make someone pretend for sure, but I think it more often makes people less inhibited in their actions which is more true to their personality.
