"Passengers Recall 'Flight From Hell' After 3-Year-Old Screamed for 8 Hours Straight" ... What are your thoughts?

It was a transatlantic headache for passengers aboard a flight from Germany to the U.S. when a child would not stop screaming for eight hours.

The passengers described it as the flight from hell which featured nonstop screaming and fussing from a 3-year-old on board.

The mother of the child was overheard telling flight attendants that her son has “behavioral problems,” according to passengers.

We were flying to France last year. The whole way we could hear this boy shouting screaming and lashing out. I looked back the boy was about 8 and I figured he had a behavioural issue.
I noticed some people were getting real edgy. I went to the bathroom and looked at the mum she was sobbing as the boy was screaming. I bent down and gave her a hug and told her she was brilliant. The boy kinda stopped and soon relaxed into a slumber. I hugged her for a good 2 mins.. we said nothing more.. I could see and feel her trembling that she was at her wits. I passed her my phone number getting off the plane. We have been friends ever since. Her boy had a very strong case of autism and she is a single parent. It's nice to be nice and notice things can be hard on parents too.

I wonder what anyone did to help that three year old. My three year old has some extra issues and handled 5 hour flights with little to no crying (lollipops and video games were used, I am not above bribery).
First, I carry noise cancelled headphones 🎧 on any flight. Worth every dime.

Second, I had kids, we planned. They were GREAT on any flight. One passenger turned back as we were deplaning and exclaimed “There was a baby? I never heard a peep!”

Third, alcohol is a wonderful palliative... mostly for the adults and parents.

@wistful you could be the best parent around and still that child will scream. Good on you that your kids behaved ...they obviously had no issues with being on a plane.
@JaggedLittlePill I could be a total jerk too. But I am not.

I also took my sick, screaming child into the bathroom and calmed them down before returning to my seat, and severely chided my child for kicking the seat 💺 in front of them.

I know what it is like on both sides of the parenting aisle. Yes, kids scream... but after about 10 min- I will blame the parents, not the kid.

My daughter is 10 now, and she loves to travel.

I feel sorry for the parents.

Ok. So? Whar exactly should be done? Honestly. Kids scream. They cry. They do not like being stuck on a plane and unable to move. They have NO IDEA how to regulate their emotions...because THEY ARE LEARNING. And. .if they have behavioral issue or autism or the like..then they REALLY have no idea how to regulate.

So ..fuck these people. They can suck it up and move on..their lives are not affected permanently.
