You just have to remember to use your brain. Because feelings are impulsive & you shouldn’t always act on them as soon as you feel them. Rationalize what’s appropriate & what’s not appropriate.
And it’s good to harden up. But it’d be even better if you had the ability to just flip the switch off when you feel safe. You can’t be tough all the time.

This is something you will keep asking yourself till the end...
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
You're too young to get 'hardened' already.
Don't deny yourself the power of 'feeling'
Even the shit that hurts, is a necessary part of your growth.

@ImpeccablyImperfect I hate feeling I’m too emotional
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
Second one is healthy in the long run.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@MasterofNone I know but I’m tired of being a crying mess
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@antisocialbutterfly if you can then detach yourself from your emotions and observe them from a distance.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@MasterofNone I’ll try

I have to agree with you. Better to make your heart strong than weak.. people just take advantage because it's what people do best.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@ContinuousEther I know
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
Never harden your heart. Maybe lower expectations.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@TheConstantGardener how?
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@antisocialbutterfly The things that get your emotions going. Lowering expectations of how you feel other people are going to act can mean that you get less upset about them.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
I can try it

I don’t know that not feeling them is possible for everyone. I can’t see that stifling one’s emotions is healthy long term. Experiencing one’s feelings is not necessarily acting upon them or even expressing them around others. 🤔
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@bijouxbroussard maybe
