This may be a sleep deprivation induced wondering...but is it selfish to not donate your blood? (of course if your health allows it)

People always find it selfish when the rich to not donate to charity...because they have so much to spare...and are always getting more. Which is kind of the same story for healthy people with blood...we can all spare some...and it will be replaced....

I'm not gonna bleed for just anybody.

Everything humans do is selfish. People only do things, for themselves. No matter what it is.

Selfishness is not always a bad thing, though.

@antisocialbutterfly Right. That's the goal. But why does the parent feel that way?
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
because they think that their child should have what they deserve

@antisocialbutterfly We're kinda getting into a circular argument here.

For what reason do they care?

The answer can't be, "They care, because they care."

*Why* does the parent want their child to have what they deserve?

I've donated plenty of blood to mosquitos.

Since understanding how useful they are for cancer patients I've felt more strongly about it. Out of iron at the moment though

@antisocialbutterfly my mum needed a transfusion at the birth of my little sister 😊

@antisocialbutterfly I will donate again as soon as I'm able - I've had an operation which should help
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
there is no shame in not donating if your health does not allow it.

I do it, but I am afraid of needles so always difficult. 😐
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@ProfRS I stopped having a fear of needles when I was diagnosed with allergies and had to get four shots a week
ProfRS · 61-69, M
Yikes. That would be difficult. How are you doing now? I hope well?
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Oh yeah a bulk of it went away...my nasal cavity doesn’t swell up anymore at least...but I still get headaches and sneeze when there are high amounts of dust, pollen, or mold.

@FCNantes My mom had to receive blood transfusions so I've always tried to attend blood drives when I am able to
