I think there are people like that. There was a popular one that was a part of a local downtown hardware store and the son of the founder of the store was the locksmith for that part of the business, the business didn't last but a few years after he died. It's not easy getting a license to be a locksmith, you have to have a background criminal check besides learning the skills.
