I have a dilemma. I found out something about my dead grandpa, regarding my mom, from my granny the other day, so...

should I let my mom know about it? which might change her opinion a little bit about her beloved father. or should I just not say anything and leave the past be the past, since he's dead anyway, to leave her with a good memory of him.

Don't say anything.
Your mother won't thank you for it.

I found out stuff while researching my family tree that my only surviving auntie does not know about her parents.
I haven't shared it publicly as I don't think it my place to tell her. I have discussed it with her daughter and we decided it woukdnt benefit her to find out such a fact. X

@RubySoo Thank you. I'll probably just never speak of it. ANd hopefully forget.

@Dan193 obviously I don't know what the issue is. I wonder why your grandmother decided to confide in you? I wonder if she's carried it a long time and decided to unburden herself....or....did she feel it important you should know? Did you know your grandfather? Did you have good memories of him?

Feel free to message me if you want to discuss things further Dan. 🤗

@RubySoo He died before I was born. Tbh I find it difficult to call him that, since I never knew him. But it was said in a convo/story she was telling me. I visit her often, since she's alone. I go, just so she could have somebody to talk to from time to time.
Why would you even consider ruining her memory of him? Your granny apparently hasn't found it necessary, why would you? Another option, your granny did tell your mom, but still your mom has chosen to keep her good memories of him not to let the past that cannot be changed ruin it all.

@SapphicHeart I didn't even think of that, that she might already know of it. Or that my granny just keeps it in for a reason. That's so true. Just like 5thapprentice said, if anyone should tell my mom is my granny.
@Dan193
Yes.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
Speak out of you wanna hurt your mom. Otherwise, keep it to yourself. I don’t understand why your grandma would tell you this.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SimplyTracie yeah maybe, because that one was just a small thing. But once she told me like really messed up stuff that my grandpa did. But whatever.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
ok, not messed up, but just wrong. Don't want to unnecessarily portray him as a monster xP
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Dan193 Then you should be silent. 🙂

I think you should let her remember him fondly. What's the point of saying something if it's going to be upsetting for her? It's not like she'd be able to talk to her dad regarding it.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@marsbar That's true. Thanks

@Dan193 Sure :)

What problem are you trying to solve lol.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User Idk that's why I asked the Q
SW-User
@Dan193 If you can't answer that there's no point.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User alright
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
Damn. If I were your mum I'd prefer to know but I'm leaning towards letting the past be the past. GL.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@5thApprentice Exactly. I'd want to know too, but at the same time.. past is the past. Right.
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
@Dan193 To be fair if anyone should tell your mum it should come from your granny.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@5thApprentice True, thanks.
Miram · 31-35, F
I would tell her if she trusts me to share such things.

If I am not told, I'd think the person believes me to be weaker than him.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@Miram I see
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
Don't Tell Her It Would Just Upset Her
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@Dan193 YW
Dan193 · 31-35, M
