Speaking from a [i]Realpolitic[/i] point of view, I'd say that it depends - what's the utilitarian approach? Namely, oppression is a near constant - someone will be oppressed. The question should be, how do we minimize the number of people that need to be oppressed to keep the gears turning.

@SierraTangoEchoVictorEcho Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Ainu in Japan, Uyghers in China, women in India, Jews and Christians in Syria, Kurds in Turkey and Iraq, Gays in Russia, political dissidents in Cuba, are all examples of currently discriminated against people. In terms of winning a right, how about women getting the right to drive cars in Saudi Arabia?
