Why do you give rats a different treatment than you would give squirrels?

They're both rodents, yes one caused the bubonic plague but both are outside living creatures. Both have a tail. If a rat stormed into your room, you wouldnt offer it food better yet you would scream and leave the room, yet it's different when you see a squirrel. 🤔
