Have you ever re-gifted something that you knew you'd never use and did you feel guilty about it?

I did, but no, I didn’t feel guilty. I’ve always maintained that giving perfume is a bad idea unless you know what the recipient likes or wears. Someone who didn’t follow that premise gave me Paloma Picasso perfume for the holidays one year. I can’t wear it—but it’s my sister’s favorite scent. So I rewrapped it and gave it to her.
I figured, now it was being used. Otherwise, it would’ve sat in my closet.

@bijouxbroussard I understand that completely. I only wear one perfume and my sister gave me another "Salon Sexy"! lol, which I'm sure she'd gotten duty free. I didn't re-gift it but gave it to my Mum who quite likes it and as a surprise she got me a bottle of my favourite. I did feel guilty then. haha

No, I give it to salvation army. Most gifts these days are not useful. I don't except any though, I'm not a materialistic person.

When I was very poor and broke college kid, an ex's dad offered to buy me a used car. I politely declined. They were loaded, but I couldn't use something that I didn't earn.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Wow, that was strong of you not to accept that offer.

@Zoranna I thrived out of poverty. I worked my way out of it. Anything like that made me anxious and question my self-worth. She was a lovely girl and her parents didn't mind her dating me back then, but I wasn't cut out for their world. We drifted apart ages ago, but we were/are both happy.

@SW-User That's lovely.

I have this floral stylized plate and a pack of risqué playing cards that I have been gifting to my father for past 9 years.
Zoranna · F
@Thevy29 How does that work? 🤔
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
He gifts them back to me. 😀 I send them to him for his Birthday. He sends them back for mine. Then I'll send it on come Christmas time along with something else. @Zoranna
Zoranna · F
@Thevy29 I love it! 😅

Yes. A fancy wine bottle opener that I received about two years prior.
kawasaki · 26-30, F
@Zoranna I gave it to a wine drinker. I don't drink wine.
Zoranna · F
@kawasaki I'm sure they loved it.
kawasaki · 26-30, F
@Zoranna She told me she did.
OzDiver · 61-69, M
Yes, it was a book that I already had, and I felt really guilty, yes. 😟
OzDiver · 61-69, M
@Zoranna Thank you. That's a strange coincidence, as this book was given to me by my sister 🙂 I never told her that I already had it and just graciously accepted the gift from her.
Zoranna · F
@OzDiver What a coincidence! haha Aren't we nice to our siblings? :-)
OzDiver · 61-69, M
@Zoranna 🙂 Yes, we are.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
I would never give you to someone... Because you are a very precious gift....
Zoranna · F
@masterofyou The question was "something" not "someone", hehe
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@Zoranna Then do you want me to take you back and put you on the shelf??? You are ungreatful.... I just put you on the shelf and I walk away...
Zoranna · F
@masterofyou That's fine, bye.
Kaitlyn · 46-50, F
If it's useful I give it to someone who will use it. I usually donate soaps to charity stores. I can only use mild ones.
Zoranna · F
@Kaitlyn That's nice of you. :-)
SW-User
Not really, I'm unsure if I even would anyway
Zoranna · F
@SW-User You appreciated them. Hey, nice people do re-gift you know. :-)
SW-User
@Zoranna Yeah, I just don't have anything to re-gift really for the time being
Zoranna · F
@SW-User That's fair enough. I only re-gift something that I know I'll never use but that doesn't mean I didn't appreciate the thought from the person who gave it to me.
SW-User
Yes...scarves...why do I need them here...and yes, I did felt guilty afterwards...probably went re-gifted again anyways...
Zoranna · F
@SW-User That's what I re-gifted and she thought it was lovely.
pandainpinktutu · 26-30, F
Yeah, I have.
Nope. At least I'm not wasting it away by keeping it to myself.
Okay, maybe a little guilty.
Zoranna · F
@pandainpinktutu That's how I feel, but I was glad it was going to be used.
Yes. And no, I didn't. I couldn't use it and someone else could. Voila. Regifted.
Zoranna · F
@PoetryNEmotion That's great. :-)
Scarboroughfair · 51-55, F
Only red wine and whisky, the rest goes in the charity shop.
Zoranna · F
@Scarboroughfair I'm sure that was appreciated.
Firespirit · 26-30, M
I have with some of my knives I have way to many anyway
Zoranna · F
@Firespirit I'm sure they were appreciated.
SW-User
Yes and no.

Why waste it when you can put it to good use 😋.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Exactly! It's not as if it has been used.
Raymuundo · 46-50, M
Zoranna · F
@Raymuundo Good.
