Do you think a person's comprehension and discernment get better with age?

Magenta · F
Hmm one would think so. Although some have more of a natural ability/gift of discernment that starts at a younger age me thinks.

But I don't much believe the cliche' that 'wisdom comes with age'.
Highway · 46-50, M
@Magenta agreed.. again. wisdom comes with experience.. me thinks.
Magenta · F
@Highway Mmhm, we gain knowledge/experience as we age, but I think wisdom is knowing how to use the knowledge. 🤓

Also I think some just have that gift.

It's lifelong experiences where you've done that, been there can make an older individual seem they have it together. Which in many ways they do. But we're all human, no one is perfect and we make mistakes. Everyone has a past and were raised differently which can contribute to how we end up when we're older and hopefully wiser. lol

It depends on the person. Because I know some older people who still act like idiots and are surprised when their poor choices have the results that they have.

50's to 70's.

@Ysa9257 I thought so.. i started to believe maybe it is a bell curve.. maybe it gets better until 40-50 and then it starts to go down..

@Highway I think sometimes people just believe what they want to believe, forget about common sense. Sometimes it get's really hard when you try to give advice and they use their age against you. Like you can't tell them anything. For me, it's like 'Well I figured since you were that age, you'd know better and I wouldn't have to give you advice. I figured you'd be giving me advice.'

probably... though the challenges of wear and tear and genetics with health traits can dampen the fun of it all...

with experience there's a plus but some of us don't age very well, shame.
Highway · 46-50, M
@sighmeupforthat yeah.. some stay a child always..

Yes. I think it's normal to assume that the one experience someone has the more baggage they'll have to face problems they encounter. Though it's not a linear process, and everybody has their own pace.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
I'm not sure if it's a general trend to be honest. For some individuals certainly, but I know plenty of older people who act like fools too.

@Xuan12 Maybe, or probably, it is a bell curve.. maybe they get better until 40-50 and then they start to go down..
Rutterman · 46-50, M
Yes, in most cases, I think so.

We can only hope!!! 😁
Highway · 46-50, M
@QueenOfSmiles For who? yourself? lol
QueenOfSmiles · 46-50, F
@Highway Definitely for others, though I would pass up becoming wiser.
